Vancouver has a mural festival every year, and the city is full of countless incredible murals. The majority of the murals in this post are in Mount Pleasant, a neighbourhood in East Vancouver. However, I have also included a couple of murals in Kitsilano and South Granville. If you’ve read my blog or follow me on Instagram, you will know murals bring me so much joy, and I am so happy to share these murals with you! Keep reading for the second instalment in my Vancouver Instagram Guide.
Vancouver Instagram Guide
This guide will be split up into neighbourhoods, covering Mount Pleasant in East Vancouver, Kitsilano and South Granville. If you’re looking for even more mural inspiration, check out my first Vancouver Instagram guide, with 18 colourful murals across the city.
Mount Pleasant Murals:
Slurpee Stuper
Sonny Assu and Mark Ollinger collaborated on this abstract blue, green, yellow and red mural. Find it at the corner of Main Street and E 14 Avenue, on the side of Snackland. It is part of the 2018 Vancouver Mural Festival, curated by the Burrard Arts Foundation.
Polka Dots
Danielle Krysa, AKA The Jealous Curator, created five polka dot murals for the 2018 Vancouver Mural Festival. I have included three of them in this post. See if you can find all five! This first one is in the alley west of Main Street between E 14 Avenue and E 15 Avenue. I couldn’t find the real title of these polka dot murals, so if you know, please tell me!

Girls are Fierce as Tigers
Artist Sandeep Jahal created this mural for the 2017 Vancouver Mural Festival. It is on the side of Chutney Villa South Indian Cuisine at 147 E Broadway.

South Granville Murals:
Pieces
When I started hunting for murals in Vancouver, this rainbow kaleidoscope one at 2319 Granville St. was No. 1 on my list. However, the first time I tracked it down in the summer of 2018, it was blocked off by fencing, and lots of articles online said it was being torn down as part of a condo redevelopment.
Well I was back here in March 2019, and it was still there! Artist Milan Basic painted this beautiful mural in 2016 in partnership with the South Granville Business Improvement Area.
Pine Street Community Garden Mural
As much as I love hunting down murals, it can be even more fun to stumble upon them by accident. That is what happened with this mural, when I was driving down W 6 Avenue.
This mural, featuring bright coloured lines is behind the Pine Street Community Garden at Pine Street and W 6 Avenue. Unfortunately I do not know who painted it or what it’s called. If you do, please let me know!
Kitsilano:
It’s a Kits Thing
Artist Brynn Staples created this large Kits mural in 2017 in partnership with BC Culture Days, Evo Car Share and the City of Vancouver. It is in the alley behind Nook Restaurant, at 1525 Yew St.
