Let’s Chat: Health, Travel, Blogging

Andrea Peacock

Hello! This spring and summer has been so crazy! I wanted to let you know what’s been going on, and what to expect from the blog going forward (hint, LOTS of travel posts!). This post is a quick catch-up on life lately, so grab a cup of tea or coffee or hot chocolate or whatever suits your fancy, and let’s chat!

From April to June, I traveled to Vancouver (4 hours away) nine times for medical appointments. They were super short one-night trips, so it was quite the whirlwind. Thank God for my super hubby for driving with me every week and keeping me company. Although they were quick trips, we did have a couple of hours each time to explore Vancouver and take a lot of cool photos, which will actually be the next post you see here.

After all that, I ended up in the hospital with pancreatitis (completely unrelated), which was no fun. From what I’ve read though, some people have it a lot worse and have to stay in the hospital for a few days. I was only there for a few hours thankfully, but I was pretty useless and in pain for the next few days. The doctors don’t know what caused it because I’m not an alcoholic and I didn’t have gallstones (the 2 main causes apparently), so I’m hoping it doesn’t come back!

Venice Italy

In better news, my husband and I just got back from a trip to Europe! Last summer was my first time abroad when we went to Portugal and Italy (I have several blog posts up about those trips if you are interested), and I was mesmerized.Traveling is such an eye-opening experience. It is so fascinating to see different parts of the world and to get a glimpse into how other people live.

This summer, we traveled to the Netherlands and Denmark for just under two weeks, and it was incredible! Amsterdam was such a dream city with all its canals and greenery. It lived up to every expectation I had. Don’t you love when that happens? Venice still remains my number one, because you cannot beat the magic and romance of that city, but I highly recommend a visit to Amsterdam!

We also traveled around to a bunch of other cities in the Netherlands, saw many windmills, witnessed a clog-making demonstration, ate all the food, kayaked down canals and had the best time.

Denmark was more of a mystery to me. Besides the photos of Nyhavn in Copenhagen (the colourful buildings along one of the canals) and reading the Hygge book everyone was obsessed with a few years ago, I knew nothing about the city or the country. Copenhagen was so different to Amsterdam, and I was pleasantly surprised! I can’t wait to share so much more about my experience in Denmark.

What’s to Come

This Friday, I will be posting my Instagram guide to Vancouver, so stay tuned for that! I found so many fun and unique places that I can’t wait to share. I also have more posts to share from my travels last summer, including itineraries for Florence and Rome (click to see my Lisbon itinerary and my Venice itinerary), and SO many to come about this past trip to the Netherlands and Denmark.

Thank you so much for following along! Be sure to connect with me on Instagram, because I am always on there interacting with people, commenting on photos, etc. I have connected with so many people through Instagram who have become my friends. Isn’t the Internet awesome? I’ve also been catching up on and reading a ton of blogs on Bloglovin’ lately, and would love to connect with you there!

How has your summer been? Are you looking forward to fall? I’d love to know!

  1. Yeah we are chatting on Instagram quite a lot! 😉
Your trips sound very interesting – happy you enjoyed Europe. 🙂 Are you going back next year to different countries?
My summer was good too! I didn’t travel, unfortunately, but did a lot of good things for myself AND restarted my blog about what I am very excited. 🙂 Need to start posting more though and that does make me nervous but I just need to come up with a plan or something. 🙂
    Hope your health stays strong!!

    1. I love chatting with you on Instagram! 🙂 I’m not sure about next summer’s travel plans yet…we don’t tend to plan too far in advance, but I would love to go back to Europe, or maybe even explore other parts of Canada I’ve never been to. So exciting about your blog, I feel like this is a relaunch time for me too, since I took an unintended break this summer. I love reading your posts! 🙂 It can be hard to post really often, it’s amazing how much work it takes, but it’s so much fun!

  2. Hey Andrea, great post. I always love reading your blogs. I am a big travel freak thus, your blogs are my favorite. Traveling with staying healthy is my main motive. Keep sharing more such blogs with us. 😊
