Amazing murals are super popular in cities like Vancouver and Calgary, but even smaller cities are getting in on the trend. Having moved to Kamloops, B.C. earlier this year, I soon discovered there are so many colourful murals here! This post covers more than 30 of Kamloops’ most Instagram-worthy murals. I have also embedded a custom map at the end of the post to make it easier for you to find all these murals.

Salmon

This orange and blue graphic salmon mural is on the side of a building at 773 Victoria St., across from Dairy Queen. Artist Sarah Collard painted it in 2019.

Organized Chaos

Artist Ken Wells painted this mural featuring several athletes in 2016. It is in the alley between Seymour Street and Victoria Street, on the back of the Service Canada building at 520 Seymour St.

Films on the Mind

Artist Zac Abney painted this massive mural this past summer on the side of the Paramount Theatre building at 503 Victoria St. The mural is inspired by films that have been shown at Paramount Theatre by the Kamloops Film Society.

Juicebox 1998

Artists Robin Hodgson and Jack Morris painted this mural in 2018 outside the downtown library, at 100-465 Victoria St. It is a short and long multi-coloured abstract mural along a concrete wall.

Billy Miner Train Robbery

This huge train mural is on the side of Cactus Jack’s, at 120 5 Ave. Artist Alex Moir-Porteous painted this mural in 2010. It depicts a scene featuring an infamous train robber named Billy Miner.

Fantasy Garden

This mural of a fantasy garden featuring two trees and a cabin is in the alley between Victoria Street and Lansdowne Street, behind 422 Victoria St. Artist Alex Moir-Porteous painted it in 2010.

Moving Art

Artist Ken Wells painted this mural of people carrying a painting on the side of Hampton Gallery, at 167 4 Ave., in 2015. Hampton Gallery closed in 2017, but as of September 2019, this mural is still there.

Alley Oasis

This gorgeous tropical scene is on the side of Central Station Pub, at 126 4 Ave. Artist Kelly Wright painted this colourful mural in 2013.

Bee City

This mural, featuring bees, butterflies and large flowers, is at 366 Victoria St. Artists Alex Moir-Porteous, Ken Wells, Evan Christian, Marianna Abutalipova and Kelly Wright painted it in 2017. Did you know Kamloops became B.C.’s first designated “bee city” in 2017?

The Mystic

Artist Ken Wells painted this mural of an older man on a blue and purple background in 2017. It is in the alley behind Subway, at 316 Victoria St.

Lansdowne Street Parkade

This mural/art installment is absolutely stunning. Artist Bill Frymire created this piece in 2018 at the city parkade at 335 Lansdowne St. The mural features 90,000 steel tiles in mainly blues and greens.

Riverside Park

The following three murals are all at Riverside Park downtown. They are on the washroom building next to the waterpark. The first one of the sun and beach is my favourite. It’s so bold and fun! I am not sure who painted these murals, but if you do, please let me know!
