Instagram Guide to Murals in Calgary, Alberta

Colourful murals and street art bring cities to life, and Calgary is no exception. Calgary, Alberta has so many beautiful, colourful murals, and they are so easy to find. I only had a few hours to check out some of them this past spring when I was in Calgary, and I found so many good ones! This post covers nine photo locations, several of which have many murals in one place. Keep reading for a guide to some of Calgary’s most Instagram-worthy murals!

This is what I would call the mural jackpot! The following photos are part of a mural along the outside wall of Staples. It was painted by artist Dan Bergeron in 2016. Even though these are all part of the same mural, each section is so unique and colourful.

The following photos are from the 4 St. SE underpass. This is another spot in Calgary that has so many amazing murals all in one place. There is so much to see here, including a bird, giant lips, trees, a butterfly, colourful geometric shapes and more. These pieces were painted by artist Michelle Hoogveld.

  1. Very pretty pictures…I’ve been to Calgary but haven’t seen any of those…need to check them out next time!! I was recently in Vancouver and we checked out the Pink Alley which was cool.

    1. Oh I love the Pink Alley in Vancouver! There are so many amazing murals there too. Street art is the best!

  4. These are all so colorful – what a great idea for a tour of Calgary! I think my favorite is Ilana Pichon’s mural of blue mountains. But I would also love to take a photo in front of Rhys Douglas Farrell’s abstract mural. These are great backdrops for photos!

    1. So hard to choose! The underpass with all the murals was probably my favourite location. So many beautiful ones!

  14. I am a huge fan of street art and colour, so naturally, I loved these. Although I did giggle at the one that looks like the dancer is kicking you.
